Parkgate Society is a registered, not-for-profit charitable society that provides programs and services to our friends and neighbours at Parkgate Community Centre and satellite locations east of the Seymour River. Parkgate Society was built by the community to serve the community and our team works in partnership with more than 350 volunteers to develop and deliver responsive programming that meets community needs. What’s the job?

We are looking for the right person to fill the role of ECE – FLOATER in the Parkgate Child and Family Centre. The ECE Floater will work mostly in our Infant/Toddler and 3-5 programs, and may occasionally work in our School Age Care programs. This creative, collaborative, enthusiastic team player will work with our amazing team to fulfill our mission to live life better. We are on the hunt for someone who loves community and has a passion for working with families with young children. Start and end times for shifts will be staggered between 7:00am and 6:00pm on certain days in order to accommodate programming needs. On rare occasions a split shift may be scheduled.

What will you get to do?

Our ECE Floater will share in the responsibility for:

ï‚· Planning, preparing and implementing age-appropriate activities that meet
individual and group needs of children.
ï‚· Ensuring a positive learning environment that encourages creativity and
promotes each child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development.
ï‚· Ensuring a healthy and safe environment for children and their families
ï‚· Maintaining open, positive communication with families
ï‚· Maintaining effective and cooperative teamwork and communication with
colleagues
ï‚· Ensuring that the program always operate in compliance with child
care licensing regulations.
ï‚· Ensuring that current COVID-19 policies are followed.
ï‚· Engaging in positive collaboration with other programs and Early Childhood
Educators

Who are we looking for?

Here’s what you bring to our awesome team:

Qualifications:

ï‚· A valid Early Childhood Educator Certificate (minimum)
ï‚· An Infant/Toddler Certificate is desirable (or enrolled in Infant/Toddler
training)
ï‚· A current child safe first aid certificate
ï‚· A current food safe certificate is an asset.
ï‚· A minimum of three months previous work experience in a licensed child
care setting

Job Skills:

ï‚· Strong interpersonal communication (both written & verbal) skills.
ï‚· Demonstrated teamwork and a passion to learn.
ï‚· Flexibility, creativity and a generous spirit
ï‚· Strong understanding of child growth and development

Starting Wage:

$23.50 – $24.00 per hour (incl. ECE WE Initiative) dependent on qualifications
This full-time position is eligible for our medical/dental and extended health
benefit package. We also offer professional development funds to support
your education.
